On Wednesday afternoon, the Padres took the loss against the Seattle Mariners in the last game of the two-game series. If you watched Tuesday’s game as well, you wouldn’t know it was the same two teams playing. The Padres didn’t bring the heat they did yesterday, and the Mariners showed up to play.
Starting at the mound was Joey Lucchesi, who pitched 5.1 innings, giving up two runs and issuing one walk. Michel Baez came in for 1.2 innings and Andres Munoz, who was tagged with the loss, came in for one inning.
The Padres bats started off hot when Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a leadoff home run in the first inning, his fifth such homer of the year. In the top of the sixth, Francisco Mejia homered as well. The two home runs weren’t enough to take the victory, but the Padres head back to San Diego to play the Colorado Rockies Thursday night at Petco Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10pm.
Final score: Mariners 3, Padres 2
