Hunter Renfroe scored off of a Manuel Margot double, immediately followed by a Luis Urias single that scored a rookie favorite, Josh Naylor. Manuel Marot scored off a sacrifice bunt by Austin Hedges, and to cap off the 5th inning, Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a two-run homer bringing in Urias. The Padres extended their lead to 8 after a one out two-run homer by Eric Hosmer, and Josh Naylor who decided to hit a home run of his own with two outs in the top of the 8th. In the top of the 9th with some aggressive base running, Tatis Jr. went from first to third on a wild pitch, then was driven in off an RBI single from Wil Myers.
