Hosmer 5 RBI’s, not enough for a win

Yates gives up a walk off double

MLB: San Diego Padres at Los Angeles Dodgers Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

On August 4, 2019, the Padres took another loss against the Dodgers in the last game of the series. The Dodgers took 3 out of the 4 games, but this game was high scoring and close.

Starting at the mound today was Chris Paddack who threw 4 innings, giving up 6 runs, all off of errors. Craig Stammen came in for two innings, only giving up one run. Trey Wingenter followed Stammen for one inning, not allowing any runs or hits. Andres Munoz made an appearance for 0.2 innings, giving up two runs. Kirby Yates (our usual savior) was given the loss tonight after giving up the game winning runs.

The bats were on fire tonight, and it was almost enough to beat the Dodgers. Starting in the third inning, Paddack hit a line drive, allowing Francisco Mejia to score. Right after that, a fan favorite, Eric Hosmer hit a grand slam scoring Greg Garcia, Manny Machado and Chris Paddack. Putting the Padres back in the game, the fans were excited and filled with hope. Starting the 4th inning, Manuel Margot homers for the second time in the series. Although the Padres were at the top of their game offensively tonight, it wasn’t enough to reel in the win.

Final score 10-11 Dodgers
