Lauer sharp, timely hitting key in win

2 out hits key in win

MLB: San Diego Padres at Los Angeles Dodgers Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

On August 1, 2019 the Padres took on the LA dodgers in the second of a four-game series. Unfortunately, the Padres couldn’t take the win yesterday, and they weren’t let down easy either. Losing by 6, the Padres came into today’s game with heavy hearts. But luckily, they took the anger and heartache of yesterday’s game and turned it into motivation for today’s game. The Padres came out swinging tonight and were able to bring the win for the first time this series. The dodgers aren’t easy to beat, so this is something to be proud of.

Taking the mound today was Eric Lauer who pitched as good as we could have hoped. Only giving up two runs in his 6 innings, Lauer is one of the pitchers who rarely disappoints. Andres Munoz, Craig Stammen and Kirby Yates all made appearances tonight as well.

The Padres bats came in hot tonight. Starting the second inning with a single by Francisco Mejia that scored Eric Hosmer. In the 6th inning, Eric Hosmer singled to right field, allowing Wil Myers to score. With little surprise, one of our favorite rookies, Josh Naylor doubled in the 6th scoring Manny Machado and Eric Hosmer. In the 7th, Wil Myers singled, scoring Greg Garcia.

Final score: 5-2 Padres
