T WHY: The Padres just wrapped up another post-All Star Break series loss, and they are now all but out of the playoff chase. Mathematically, they are still obviously in it with so many games left in the season, but it’s July 29, and they are at the very least not in the conversation with other “buyers” as we approach the trade deadline.
But none of that can dampen our spirits because today is Paddack Day! Rookie phenom Chris Paddack is taking the mound and momentum is on the Padres’ side because in baseball momentum is just tomorrow’s starting pitcher (or today’s in this case).
