On July 26th, the Padres returned home to Petco Park to play the San Francisco Giants in a three-game series. Only winning one of the last three games, the Padres have been hurting for a win. It was a tie game all the way through the 11th inning, but unfortunately the Padres couldn’t win the game.
On the mound tonight was a Padres favorite, Joey Lucchesi. Lucchesi is one of the more reliable pitchers that the Padres have, and tonight he showed us just why we love him. Pitching 6 innings only giving up 1 run. Matt Strahm and Craig Stammen each pitched one inning. Kirby Yates came in for the 9th inning, which we thought would be the last, but going into extra innings, Anders Munoz came in the 10th. In the 11th, we saw an appearance from Logan Allen as well. All in all, it wasn’t a bad night for the Padres pitching staff.
For the Padres bats, Austin Hedges found his groove tonight, hitting a home run in the bottom of the 5th. Hedges has hit eight home runs this season, and they have all come at the best times.
Hopefully the Padres can bounce back from this loss and bring their all again tomorrow.
The Padres play the Giants again tomorrow night at 5:40pm at Petco Park
Final: 2-1 Giants
