On the heels of a second-half losing skid of troubling proportions, the Padres have called up their third prospect in the span of 24 hours. Following the recall of Luis Urias and the selection of Adrian Morejon, San Diego will now welcome the powerful right arm of one Michel Baez.

That will be the only official move today.
Adrian Morejon and Michel Baez are on the “taxi squad.” Their promotion imminent, obviously. https://t.co/WccjzO1IVR
After gaining helium in 2018 with a strong showing at A+ Lake Elsinore, Baez has been plagued by back injuries in 2019. Formerly a starter, he has worked exclusively in relief this season. Below is his full scouting report from MLB.com—an outlet that ranks him as the 70th best prospect in the sport.
Though his conversion to relief certainly reduces his long-term value, Baez still possesses a tantalizing fastball that could be devastating in a late-inning context (as evidenced by his 12.67 K/9 in 27 AA innings this year). Given the recent struggles of both our starting and relief units, any help would certainly be welcome.
