MTPGA: Paddack’s near no-no

Craig Elsten and John Gennaro get together, as they do most weeks, to try and add perspective to the Padres fanbase.

MLB: San Diego Padres at Miami Marlins Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

It’s been a weird few weeks for the Make the Padres Great Again podcast. Between my traveling and Craig’s, it feels like we’ve hardly done an episode together since week before the all-star break, although I don’t think that’s true.

That’s a long way of saying that, although I’m on vacation, I wanted to find time to talk about the San Diego Padres with Craig this week. Because this is a crucial point in the season for the fans, and because the fanbase might need a reminder to chill out.

Here’s the episode, for your listening pleasure:

In addition to keeping track of Chris Paddack’s no-hit bid (which was ongoing when we finished recording), Craig and I talked about the short-term and long-term future of the team’s starting rotation, as well as the bullpen. We also handed out our theories on why Luis Urias has not been called up to the MLB team since going down early in the season.

(Yes, I know the quality is not nearly as good as it normally is. That’s what happens when you take an in-person podcast and turn it into an over-the-phone podcast. We’ll get back to the good stuff next week.)
