WHO: San Diego Padres vs. Washington Nationals

WHAT: Luis Perdomo makes his first start of the season in a “bullpen day” for Padres

WHEN: Sunday, June 9, 2019, at 1:10 p.m.

WHERE: PetCo Park

HOW: Watch on FOX Sports San Diego (or FOX Sports Go), listen on 97.3FM The Fan. Spanish broadcasts on FOX Deportes San Diego and XEMO 860AM.

WHY: Right-hander Luis Perdomo is starting the game today, but he likely will not be on the mound for long. Today is a scheduled bullpen day and if their “starter” goes more than a couple innings that would be somewhat surprising. The plan such as it is appears to be for lefty Robbie Erlin to follow Perdomo out of the pen. It will be a far cry from last night’s 7-inning performance by Eric Lauer.

Last night, the offense struggled against Max Scherzer. Only Franmil Reyes was able to get anything going at all. Things don’t get much easier today against Stephen Strasburg. If the Padres are to have any chance they’ll need more than one hitter to find at least some success this afternoon.
