WHY: Cal Quantrill takes the mound this afternoon looking to get the Padres back on track after a rough loss last night in which rookie phenom Chris Paddack got knocked around for the second consecutive start. Late offense including 8th inning home runs from both Franmil Reyes and Eric Hosmer made the final score look better than the game as a whole did.
Even with yesterday’s result, the Friars still have a chance today to claim the series victory if they can provide rookie Quantrill with some run support and if the aforementioned Quantrill can then make those runs hold up.
