WHY: San Diego’s no. 5 prospect, Logan Allen, will start tonight as the Padres try to claim the series win with a victory tonight. Allen’s ERA in Triple-A El Paso was an unspectacular 5.15, but the Pacific Coast League is an unfriendly league for pitchers and he was trending in the right direction prior to being called up to the big leagues. The Brewers’ 26-year-old Brandon Woodruff will take the mound for Milwaukee and he has been excellent over his last 9 starts with an ERA below 3.
Last night, the Padres only managed 2 runs, but Joey Lucchesi and the bullpen made that hold up. Tonight, Fernando Tatis Jr. and co. will likely need to do better to stay in the win column.
