WHO: San Diego Padres vs. San Francisco Giants
WHAT: Padres look to end 3-game skid.
WHEN: Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at 6:45 p.m.
WHERE: Oracle Park
HOW: Watch on FOX Sports San Diego (or FOX Sports Go), listen on 97.3FM The Fan. Spanish broadcasts on FOX Deportes San Diego and XEMO 860AM.
WHY: The Padres have not held an opponent under 4 runs in over a week (they held the Phillies to 2 runs last Monday) and tonight they get another shot at the worst hitting team in the Majors. That worst-hitting team put up 6 runs last night against San Diego’s ace, Chris Paddack, and their wildly inconsistent bullpen. Today, Joey Lucchesi, who gave up 4 runs in the 1st inning of his last start (a victory), will try to get them back on track. Aside from that 1 inning, the lefthander’s last 4 starts have been impressive (they would work out to a 2.25 ERA without that explosion).
On the positive side of things, rookie phenom Fernando Tatis Jr. continues to justify exclusively referring to him as rookie phenom Fernando Tatis Jr. He led the game off with a home run, hit an RBI single, and later scored on a fantastic hustle play. He has been by far the best player on the team and one cannot help but wonder what the Padres’ record would look like had he not gotten hurt.
