It only took 1 pitch for the Padres to get the lead on Tuesday night. Fernando Tatis Jr continues to show why he’s a Rookie of the Year candidate. The 20 year old went 2 for 5 on the night with a homer and 2 RBI. That brings his slash line to .319 8 HR 17 RBI and 7 SB’s.
Chris Paddack rebounded well from his previous start, going 5 innings and giving up 3 ER. The home run continues to haunt him, giving up a 2 run shot to Steven Duggar in the 4th.
Trey Wingenter came in to get the Padres through the middle innings. Unfortunately 2 walks and 2 hits later the lead was long gone. This life for the 2019 Padres.
An Ian Kinsler home run in the Top of the 8th cut the lead to 6-5, but couldn’t muster anything in the 9th to make a comeback. Will Smith went 1-2-3 in the 9th for his 15th save.
The loss drops the Padres back under .500 at 33-34.
