For the Marlins, Caleb Smith was fantastic in April, but his effectiveness had steadily been trending toward average when in his last outing he was knocked around to the tune of 5 runs in only 3 innings.
Offensively, the Padres have been one of baseball’s better hitting clubs over the last week thanks primarily to the efforts of Hunter Renfroe, Wil Myers, Eric Hosmer, and Austin Hedges. All four have clubbed at least two home runs each during that stretch.
