WHO: San Diego Padres vs. New York Yankees
WHAT: Padres try to bounce back from yesterday’s shellacking
WHEN: Monday, May 27, 2019, at 10:05 a.m.
WHERE: Yankee Stadium
HOW: Watch on FOX Sports San Diego (or FOX Sports Go), listen on 97.3FM The Fan. Spanish broadcasts on FOX Deportes San Diego and XEMO 860AM.
WHY: This morning, the Padres travel to New York to take on the Yankees who will be featuring an opener. Chad Green is making his third start of the season. In his previous two opening opportunities, Green has allowed 3 runs across 2 2⁄3 innings, but that hasn’t stopped the Yankees who won both of those games.
On the mound for the Padres will be a different kind of converted relief pitcher in Matt Strahm who has thrown at least 5 innings in every start dating back to April 7 without ever allowing more than 2 runs. Strahm has been something of a revelation especially compared to what you could reasonably expect from a player in his position. The Yankees lineup led by Gary Sanchez is one of MLB’s best and will represent a challenge to both of those streaks.
