WHO: San Diego Padres vs. Toronto Blue Jays
WHAT: Friars travel to Toronto to begin series with the Blue Jays
WHEN: Friday, May 24, 2019, at 4:07 p.m.
WHERE: Rogers Centre
HOW: Watch on FOX Sports San Diego (or FOX Sports Go), listen on 97.3FM The Fan. Spanish broadcasts on FOX Deportes San Diego and XEMO 860AM.
WHY: Fresh off a sweep of the Diamondbacks, the Padres have their heads back above water and are ready to keep their run going against the less than stellar Blue Jays. Joey Lucchesi will take the mound and be tasked with keeping the likes of Eric Sogard, Rowdy Tellez, and Justin Smoak at bay. A righthanded rookie pitcher, Trent Thornton, will take toe the rubber for the Jays and he was quite solid during his most recent turn in the rotation when he allowed one run across six innings.
The Padres offense has been primarily focused around the right side of the diamond with Eric Hosmer, Greg Garcia, and Franmil Reyes doing the majority of the work at the plate. If they can keep that up and the rest of the lineup can begin to come back to life, they could be in a good place moving forward.
