5/22 Game Thread: Padres (25-24) vs. Diamondbacks (25-24)

New, comments
MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates at San Diego Padres Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

WHO: San Diego Padres vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

WHAT: Padres can pass the Diamondbacks in the standings with a win today

WHEN: Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at 12:40 p.m.

WHERE: Petco Park

HOW: Watch on FOX Sports San Diego (or FOX Sports Go), listen on 97.3FM The Fan. Spanish broadcasts on FOX Deportes San Diego and XEMO 860AM.

WHY: Great starting pitching and a home run propelled the Padres to another win yesterday, this time in the form of converted relief pitcher Matt Strahm and first baseman Eric Hosmer. Today, given that it is a day game and that Eric Lauer is unlikely to provide a performance that you could count on to be one half of a pitchers’ duel, a different script will likely be needed to continue their winning ways.

The Padres have not scored more than 4 runs in a game since May 12 in Denver and the last time they managed the feat at sea level was May 7 against the Mets. Today would certainly be a good time for the Friars’ bats to rediscover themselves.
