WHY: Things have not been going especially well of late for our Padres, but rookie phenom Chris Paddack will be on the mound tonight as they look to get back on track. Paddack is making his 9th career start and is already the clear cut ace of the San Diego pitching staff. He is easily the team’s best hope to stop a losing skid and today he gets that chance.
Offensively, the Padres have been inconsistent at best. They continue to hit a fair number of home runs (they are tied for 8th in the Majors), but only the Marlins are worse at getting on base, so they struggle to score as often as not. Hopefully, they can start to correct that deficiency against Luke Weaver in game 1 of this series with Arizona.
