After watching the first 5 games of the head to head matchup between the Padres and Dodgers, 1 thing is pretty clear.
The Padres have announced their prescense, but the Dodgers are still the best team in the West. They’re not going to sit back and let the Padres rise, they have to earn it.
Wednesday night they were completely dominated by Maeda, who pitched into the 7th and struck out 12.
“Matt Strahm (1-3) went five innings and allowed two runs on seven hits. The left-hander, who has a 2.33 ERA in five road starts, struck out five. ”Matt gave us an opportunity to win. He mixed well and could have easily had zero runs through five,” Padres manager Andy Green said. “Those were soft hits that brought those runs in.”
The boys head home for a 4 game set against the Pirates. Lucchesi, Lauer and Margevicius will start the next 3 nights. It’s looking like the team will call up a spot starter for Sunday’s day game. It could be Quantrill or Avila again.
