Lucchesi get the loss
Joey Lucchesi enter today’s game with a 0.00 ERA and....it went up. Joey gave up 7 earned runs in just 4 innings of work and basically put the game out of reach early.
Holland gets hot
Derek Holland did work against the San Diego Padres hitters tonight, going 7 innings and striking out 9 while giving up just 1 run. Holland looked sharp and was able to place his pitches just about wherever he wanted. He never really seemed to get in trouble all night.
Kevin Pillar, Padres killer
The San Francisco Giants traded for Kevin Pillar last week and he is already their team leader in RBIs for the season. Here’s what he’s done against the Padres in two games:
2-7 (.285 average), 2B, HR, 8 RBIs
Outfielders stay hot
The Padres had 7 total hits tonight, and three different players somehow ended up with multi-hit games. Wil Myers (playing 1B in this game), Hunter Renfroe, and Manny Margot each picked up 2 hits, with Myers and Renfroe picking up the only two RBIs on the day. Those three are also the only three starters hitting over .300 for the season to this point.
