WHY: The San Diego Padres were riding high after winning their opening series vs. the San Francisco Giants, and many of their fans expected them to steamroll over the Arizona Diamondbacks as well. It has not happened that way.
San Diego got thoroughly trounced in Game 1, and lost the battle of team aces in Game 2. The Padres have lost the series and are now hoping to save face and avoid getting swept before heading out on a road trip that will take them to St. Louis, San Francisco and Arizona.
The Padres will reward Hunter Renfroe with another start in LF after hitting 2 HRs yesterday, and we’ll get our first chance to see Wil Myers back in CF this season. Otherwise, the lineup looks pretty similar to the previous 6 games.
