4/28 Game Thread: Padres (16-11) vs. Nationals (11-14)

Break out the brooms!

MLB: Cincinnati Reds at San Diego Padres Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

WHO: San Diego Padres vs. Washington Nationals

WHAT: Padres can sweep the Nats with a win today.

WHEN: Sunday, April 28, 2019, at 10:35 a.m.

WHERE: Nationals Park

HOW: Watch on FOX Sports San Diego (or FOX Sports Go), listen on 97.3FM The Fan. Spanish broadcasts on FOX Deportes San Diego and XEMO 860AM.

WHY: Joey Lucchesi takes the mound with an opportunity to lead the Padres to a sweep in a series where they had to face Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg in the first two games. Today, Jeremy Hellickson stands thin their way.

Greg Garcia will be making his second start of the season at second base and will be batting second in place of Ian Kinsler who has been the Padres’ least valuable player through the first month of the season.

The Padres have outscored the Nationals 12-6 through two games and this is the most favorable pitching matchup the Padres have had in the series, so the sweep is certainly a realistic expectation at this point.
