WHY: Eric Lauer will attempt to right the ship after Matt Strahm’s shellacking last night, coming off a hot start on Opening Day. He’ll be match up against Zack Greinke (17.18 ERA), who will be trying to bounce back from his own trouncing, that one at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Hunter Renfroe gets a start in LF, giving Wil Myers the day off. Francisco Mejia gets a start at catcher, his first time catching Lauer this year. Franchy Cordero did work off the bench for San Diego last night and gets the start in RF over the slumping Franmil Reyes.
Winning this one is important if the Padres want to keep the hope alive of winning back-to-back series at home before heading off to St. Louis.
