It has been reported that the Padres are trading OF Hunter Renfroe and MIF Xavier Edwards to the Rays for OF Tommy Pham and MIF Jake Cronenworth.
Last season, Pham hit .273 with 28 home runs, 68 RBIs, and 25 stolen bases. He is a talented player who will be an upgrade for the Padres. In Triple-A, Cronenworth hit .334 with 10 home runs and 45 RBIs. Cronenworth also pitched a few innings at Triple-A, so he could be a two-way player for the Padres.
I don't know if he is worth everything they gave up. Renfroe hit .216 with 33 home runs and 64 RBIs. Edwards was the number five prospect in the Padres farm system according to MLB Pipeline.
So far this offseason, the Padres have been very active. They’re likely not done yet.
