The Padres are set to sign hurler Drew Pomeranz to a three-year contract, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic and Jeff Passan of ESPN.
Pomeranz, an All-Star starting pitcher with San Diego back in 2016. After a trade to Boston, Pomeranz was somewhat up-and-down, performing well in 2017 but generally coming unglued in 2018.
2019 saw the lefty struggle in a starting role with San Francisco before a mid-season move to Milwaukee. With the Brewers, Pomeranz redeveloped himself into a lights-out bullpen piece.
No indication yet on whether Pomeranz will work out of the bullpen or the rotation with San Diego this time around.
UPDATE: The Padres have signed Pomeranz to a four-year deal per Robert Murray.
