The Fall Stars Game is this Saturday at 5 P.M. PDT at Salt River Fields. This is a game where the best players in the Arizona Fall League come and showcase their talents.
For the Padres this year, Elliot Ashbeck was the only prospect selected to play in this game.
In 7.1 innings pitched, he is 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA and 8 strikeouts. All of Ashbeck’s appearances this year have been in relief.
During the regular season, Ashbeck pitched at both Class A Advanced and Double-A. In 33 appearances, Ashbeck was 6-3 with a .295 ERA and 102 strikeouts in Class A Advanced. In Double-A, he pitched 0.2 innings and gave up no runs with 1 strikeout.
Ashbeck was drafted by the Padres in the 16th round of the 2015 draft. In his second season of his career, he was forced to get Tommy John surgery. He was able to get back before the end of the 2017 season and ended up 0.98 ERA in 13 appearances.
If Ashbeck is able to keep performing well, he could work his way up to the majors over the next few years.
