Padres hire Jayce Tingler as new manager

Tingler was one of the top candidates to be named manager for the past couple weeks

It has been reported that the Padres will be hiring Jayce Tingler as their next manager.

Most fans were expecting it to either be Tingler or Ron Washington. But A.J. Preller has had a close relationship with Tingler for years and it seemed that Preller was pushing to sign him.

Before being hired as the Padres manager, Tingler was with the Rangers. He served as an interim bench coach, assistant general manager, Minor Leagues field coordinator, and Major Leagues development coordinator.

Tingler is currently coaching Leones del Escogido in the Dominican Winter League. He has a 9-1 record this season. And Tingler has coached many winter and fall leagues with a lot of prospect, so he knows how to coach a team with young talent.

He is just 38 years old and will become the second youngest manager in the MLB.
