Earlier today, USA Baseball named its Premier12™ roster. The Premier12™ Tournament is Team USA’s first chance to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

According to USA Baseball, Team USA will travel to Guadalajara, Mexico from November 2-4 and compete against the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and the Netherlands. The top two countries will advance to the Super Round in Tokyo from November 11-16.

Padres INF prospect Xavier Edwards is the only Padres player selected to play for Team USA. Edwards is the 72nd overall ranked prospect by MLB Pipeline.

This season, Edwards played at both Class A (Full) and Class A-Advanced. In 503 at-bats, he hit .322 with 1 home run, 43 RBIs, and 34 SB. At Class A (Full), Edwards was a Mid-Season and Post-Season All-Star.

Edwards is just 20 years old and has a bright future ahead of him.

Former Yankees coach, Joe Girardi, will be the manager for Team USA in the Premier12™ Tournament.
