Jacob Nix Arrested in Arizona

This... is not good.

Well, this probably won’t end well.

As reported in several media outlets, 23-year-old RHP Jacob Nix was arrested in Peoria, AZ. Peoria Police reported that at 0330 on 06 OCT, they were called to a home for a reported trespasser. The homeowner reported to police that a man, later identified as Nix, entered his home through a doggie door. The homeowner confronted Nix, kicking him one time in the face, before another man, later identified as 23-year-old Padres Prospect Thomas Cosgrove, then reached through the doggie door to pull Nix out of the home.

As the two fled, the homeowner leaned out and tazed Nix in the back, according to court records.

Police located and arrested the pair a few streets away.

The Padres are aware of the arrests, and released the following statement:

”We are aware of the alleged incident involving Jacob Nix last Sunday in Arizona. We take this matter seriously and have been in contact with the Commissioner’s office and local authorities. Due to the ongoing legal proceedings, we will not have any further comment at this time.”

***UPDATE***

According to ESPN.com, Nix, who was participating in the Arizona Fall League after spending most of 2019 dealing with an elbow injury, has a preliminary court date set for 16 OCT. No word if Cosgrove, a LHP drafted in the 12th round of the 2017 draft who also battled injuries while making 6 starts at Hi-A Lake Elsinore in 2019, will appear with Nix.
