Getting old sucks

Interesting blog post on the performance of aging players in today's game. There are VERY few guys 35+ putting up high performing seasons compared to the previous era. The article skirts around PEDs too much, in my opinion. I think it's pretty obvious why the 35+ crowd did well in the 1998-2007 era.

Even more reason to be optimistic about the recent Padres build from within strategy, I suppose. At the same time, we're not getting nearly enough from our age 25-29 guys. That is where the bulk of the production is coming from across the league. It's kind of head scratching that anyone would give a 30 year old FA a huge contract at this point.
