The Padres and Bryan Mitchell took it the Mariners once again, this time on their turf. A good outing from Mitchell and a pair of timely runs gave the Pads another win against the Mariners for the 2018 season.
Mitchell steamed through 6 innings giving up only a single earned runs on 4 hits. The run came from a Robinson Cano solo HR in the third. Mitchell shut down the Mariners for the remainder of the game, and Strahm, Stammen, and Yates kept Seattle to their one run.
The Padres answered in the 4th with a Franmil Reyes RBI single. The game stayed tied until the 9th inning, and with two runners on Wil Myers would swing at his first pitch to rack up an RBI double, putting the Padres up 2-1.
A bummer for the night was when Luis Urias ended up injuring himself, a hamstring injury, when trying to leg out an infield single. He was taken out of the game and is reported to likely be done for the remainder of the Padres ‘18 season, or doubtful to start again at best.
The Pads get one more agains the Mariners tomorrow at 3:40 PM, with Lucchesi set to take the mound.
