On Sunday, July 29th, Trevor Hoffman will officially be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. He will take the stage in Cooperstown, New York with his fellow 2018 inductees to be enshrined in baseball history.
As Padres fans, moments like this are so rare. But we knew this one would come eventually, and even though it may have taken a bit longer than some of us expected or hoped, it's so exciting to finally be looking it in the face.
Just a couple days ago, Hoffman appeared on MLB Network's High Heat program, hosted by another former member of the Padres family, Matt Vasgersian. Hoffman talked about being in Cooperstown in the days leading up to the induction, his speech-writing progress, and his 17-year career. You can watch the video below or by clicking here.
Sunday's induction ceremony will air live exclusively on MLB Network starting at 10:30 am PT. If you're able to, you may want to consider heading down to Petco Park, which will be open at 10:00 am to the public for a viewing party for Hoffy's speech. If it's anything like his number retirement ceremony in 2011, you'll want to be sure to have tissues or a handkerchief on hand.
