The Braves were relentless against the Padres tonight, scoring in all but 3 innings. The Friars avoided a shutout by scoring a lone run by the end of the night but not before taking a 14-run pounding the whole game.
Jordan Lyles was torn apart, giving up 8 earned runs in 4.1 innings off 11 hits, two of them home runs. Bryan Mitchell followed up with an equally bad performance, giving up an additional home run and 5 earned runs off 5 hits. Phil Hughes was the only reliever who avoided giving up a run, but more importantly, Cory Spangenberg was called to pitch the final half of the ninth for the Pads, giving up only one earned run and 2 hits, and walking one.
The lone Padres run tonight came from none other than Franmil Reyes, who blasted yet another home run into center field, now his 6th home run of the season and his second in two days.
The Friars will get another go at it tomorrow at noon.
