The San Diego Padres will conclude their series at Coors Field this afternoon, and they're looking to make it a sweep against old friend Buddy Black and his Rockies. Luis Perdomo is slated to make his third start of the season, opposite Colorado's German Marquez.
Perdomo kicked off his 2018 season with a disappointing effort at home against the Brewers. He lasted only four innings, giving up five earned runs on seven hits and four walks, though on the upside he also managed to strike out seven batters. He pitched much better in his second appearance, throwing five innings of one-run ball with four hits, three walks, and four strikeouts. But like many pitchers, Perdomo has struggled at Coors Field in the past. In three career starts in Colorado, he is 0-1 with an 8.00 ERA and 2.111 WHIP.
Marquez has had much more success (in a much larger sample size) pitching at Coors. In 17 outings (16 starts) at home he is 7-4 with a 4.73 ERA and 1.320 WHIP. Today he'll make his fourth career start against the Padres, looking to improve on a 2-1 record and 6.30 ERA against them.
