A starting rotation and breakout candidate will make his debut today in Peoria against the Dodgers.
Dinelson Lamet will make his case for the starting rotation that has seen plenty of tryouts so far this spring. According to Dennis Lin of the SDUT Athletic, Lamet is working on a curveball to supplement his fastball/slider repertoire and is also putting more work into a changeup. Adding more breaking pitches to his arsenal could help Dinelson’s case for the starting rotation come Opening Day. Perhaps you’ll see some of those new offerings today?

Of note in today’s lineup is Fernando Tatis, Jr. hitting in front of Eric Hosmer. Preview of a hopeful future, maybe? Austin Hedges also gets a bump in the batting order thanks to a new-look swing that has drawn rave reviews so far in Spring Training action. Jose Pirela will take the leadoff spot and will get another shot at left field.
The first culling of spring has been announced: Miguel Diaz will depart the major league team and head into minor league spring training camp.
The campaign to Beat LA begins anew at 12:10 Left Coast Time. You can catch the game on Fox Sports San Diego or on the radio at MLB.com.
