Another Spring Training game, another debut: new face of the franchise Eric Hosmer will make his first base debut against the Seattle Mariners in Peoria. The talk of the Padres offseason will see his first game action as a Friar and will bat cleanup. The Padres will play as the visiting team in Peoria today since both teams share the facility.

Wil Myers will start another game in right field after a mixed-results debut yesterday (0-3, error). Renfroe will take the designated hitter spot while red-hot Franchy Cordero will assume duties in left field after hustling out a inside the park home run in yesterday’s 10-4 win against the Angels.
Clayton Richard will get the nod for the start today. If you’re into rotation prognostication today’s start puts him in position with regular rotation rest to start on Opening Day against the Brewers on March 29th.
Speaking of debuts, several Padres have been delayed in Spring Training appearances thanks to injuries. Via Andy Green:
“Alex Dickerson is still nursing the elbow. Matt Szczur is still nursing the oblique a little bit. Allen Córdoba is still not back with us. Chase Headley took a ground ball off the middle finger of his throwing hand the other day and it’s a little swollen and a little sore but not anything that we would be long-term concerned about.”
Today’s game starts at 12:10 PM and will be on FSSD.
