Today is the day we find out if one of the greatest Padres of all time earns his well-deserved spot in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. We've been through this waiting game twice already, only to be met with disappointment as the Baseball Writers Association of America failed to vote him in over the past two years. Last year was an especially big letdown as he was only one percent short of the required vote to be inducted.
Hoffy recently talked to MLB.com about his chances in his third year of Hall of Fame candidacy:
But unless something goes horribly wrong, it looks like he'll be heading to Cooperstown this Summer. According to the latest numbers from Ryan Thibodaux, who has been compiling and tracking all publicly available ballots, Hoffman has a solid 79% of the votes.
Ballot #243 is from an anonymous voter. Hoffman is back to 79%, Edgar is hanging tough at 77.4%, and Vizquel is up to 33.3%. In the Tracker: https://t.co/EHQYbIMnWo pic.twitter.com/d6YPSeH5a0

It's a no-brainer for Padres fans, but it will be nice to see the support for Hoffman on a national level when his name is announced as a member of the next Hall of Fame class.
Feel free to discuss the vote, share your favorite Hoffy memories, and just chat about the Padres in general down below. If you can, tune in to MLB Network for coverage starting at noon PT and the announcement at 3:00 pm PT. If you can't make it to a TV, the announcement will be streaming live on MLB.TV and MLB.com/video.
And for your pre-HOF announcement reading pleasure:
