While the Los Angeles Dodgers prepare for the playoffs, the season is winding down for the San Diego Padres. Tonight the two teams will conclude their season series in a matchup between left-handed veterans Clayton Richard and Rich Hill.
Richard, who was recently given a two-year contract extension by the Padrs, will be making his final start of the season. He pitched well in two previous outings at Dodger Stadium this year, going 1-0 ith a 1.93 ERA. He's coming off a fantastic outing against the Rockies, whom he held scoreless through 7 1/3 innings while allowing seven hits, issuing one walk, and notching eight strikeouts.
Hill, who is making his last regular season appearance before likely starting Game 3 of the NLDS, was also great in his most recent outing. He kept the Giants to one run on five hits and a walk while striking out nine batters. In two home starts against San Diego this year, he combined for 11 innings, giving up three earned runs on seven hits and three walks, and collecting 14 strikeouts.
