Padres attendance down 9%

Padres’ home attendance has declined to 2013 levels, the year when new ownership took over. The 2015 All-Star year bump of 12% has been completely erased. The front office evidently had trouble selling the idea of the tank to some fans, but they undoubtedly knew that going in. Instead they depended on the ballpark experience to bring us in by the metric buttload.

If you did attend then chances are you didn’t even get to see the tank, they won 53% of their home games. They sucked more on the road for sure, but not enough to tank properly. One wonders if they had stealth tanked if the attendance would have been better or worse.
