Jhoulys Chacin returns to mound at his old stomping grounds this afternoon as the Padres and Rockies wrap up their three-game series at Coors Field. The right-hander made his Major League debut for Colorado back in 2009 and continued his career as a member of the Rockies for parts of six seasons. This will be his first appearance in Denver since 2014, his last season with the Rockies.

Chacin has only faced his former team one other time in his career, and it was this season at his new home of Petco Park, as he returned to the NL West as a starter for the Padres. He threw six innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks, while striking out seven.

Facing Chacin on the hill will be Jon Gray, who is in his third Major League season. In a start against the Padres at Coors Field in July, Gray went six innings and allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks, but was credited with a win. That win is part of an 8-4 record the righty has in 17 games since a return from the disabled list in June 30th. In eight career appearances against San Diego, Gray is 3-2 with a 2.67 ERA.
