After winning the series in Arizona and enjoying a day off yesterday, the Padres are in Minneapolis for a quick two-game set against the Twins starting tonight. The opener will feature a pitching matchup of Travis Wood versus Kyle Gibson.

Wood had a bad time his last time out. He only lasted two innings against the Cardinals at home a week ago, giving up seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and a walk. Wood has faced the Twins six times in his career, but tonight's game will be just his third start against them. He has a 5.73 ERA through 11 innings of work in previous appearances.

Gibson gets the start for Minnesota tonight on normal rest, in place of the Twins' fifth starter Aaron Slegers, whose turn in the rotation in being skipped this time around. The right-hander is 3-0 with a 1.69 ERA in his last four start, pitching at least six innings each time. Tonight will be his first ever appearance against the Padres.
