Padres Preview: 08/08 @ Reds

MLB: Minnesota Twins at San Diego Padres Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The San Diego Padres and Cincinnati Reds continue their series at Great American Ballpark this evening. In the second game of the four-game set, Luis Perdomo will take the hill opposite Reds rookie Sal Romano.

After a couple of rough outings in a row, Perdomo will try to get his bearings back tonight in Cincy. Over his last two starts, he gave up a combined nine earned runs on 16 hits and four walks through 12 2/3 innings of work. He was credited with a win against the Reds earlier this season. On June 12th at Petco Park, he went 6 2/3 innings and gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four batters. He had remarkably similar results against the Reds last season, throwing six frames with three runs allowed on seven hits, three walks, and five strikeouts.

Romano is making just his seventh big league appearance tonight, and first ever against the Padres. Through his previous six outings, he's 2-3 with a 4.88 ERA. He most recently took a loss against the Pirates, giving up four earned runs on eight hits, while issuing no walks and striking out three.
