Game 2 of the last series featuring San Francisco in Petco Park has Luis Perdomo facing off against lefthander Matt Moore.
Perdomo (6-8, 4.84 ERA) is starting to solidify himself in the rotation despite a penchant for the big inning. The still-developing righty has gone at least six innings in his last seven starts and did well in his last action against St. Louis, giving up two runs on seven hits over six innings. Of particular note is what his start tonight will mean stat-wise: should Perdomo go at least 3 2/3rds innings he will qualify for the MLB leaderboards and his 62.7% groundball rate will rank tops in the Majors ahead of Marcus Stroman (62.2%). He would also surpass NL leader and teammate Clayton Richard (59.4%). Luis has performed decently against the Giants this year with a 3.63 ERA but has not factored into any decisions.

The Giants will send Matt Moore to the bump to face the Padres. Moore (4-12, 5.38 ERA) has also found a groove despite a sky-high ERA and a trying season so far. Matt only surrendered one run on five hits over six plus innings against Milwaukee in his last action. Over his last three starts Moore has turned a corner, going 1-0 with a 2.21 ERA after a 1-8 stretch since the end of May. The Padres have only seen Moore once this season back on July 22nd; he allowed four runs in six innings leading to an eventual 5-4 Giants win.
The Padres will have to get the bats going after being stymied last night, though some Team Tank fans wouldn’t mind another loss to the last-place Giants. Tonight’s action starts at 7:10 PM Left Coast Time.
