The San Diego Padres will meet with an old friend today as they continue their Players Weekend series in Miami. While Dinelson Lamet toes the rubber for San Diego this afternoon, former Friar Odrisamer Despaigne will make the start for the Marlins.

Lamet, aka El Flaco, is coming off a loss against the Nationals. He only lasted 4 2/3 innings, giving up three runs on three hits and a season high six walks, though he also struck out eight batters in his effort. This will be his first career appearance against the Marlins.

Despaigne, who pitched for the Padres in 2014 and 2015, is making his third career appearance against his former team, but first as a starter. For what it's worth, those two relief outings against the Padres amounted to 1 2/3 scoreless innings. He's been working primarily out of the bullpen this season, but he gets the start (his second of the year) today due to Miami's upcoming doubleheader. The right-hander, who is sporting the nickname Mili-Pino on his jersey this weekend, has a 4.42 ERA through 11 1/3 innings this season.
