Padres 12, Cardinals 4: The swinging Friars tee off against some poor birds

The Cardinals hit nothing but home runs today and were still stomped.

It’s time for another Padres visit to St. Louis, and a visit to Mr. Jedd Gyorko, who seems to have it out for his former club. He still did his thing while putting up a career season, but the Padres still pummeled the rest of his team for 9 innings straight.

Speaking of career bests, Clayton Richard was coming off a CGSO. Tonight, he kinda gave up 4 hits and 4 runs, 3 of the hits and all of the runs from homers. But he still was able to induce 8 groundouts, which is good, because Clayton Richard cannot eat people food and can only find nourishment from outs recorded by ground balls.

Stammen, Maton, Torres, and Capps shut out the Cards for the remainder of the game, but it wasn’t all that important, because the Padres lineup was busy running up the score.

Multi-hit nights from Manuel Margot, Carlos Asuaje, Austin Hedges spelled victory for tonight. But let’s take a sidebar for Yangervis Solarte’s reign of terror against all those in attendance wearing red tonight. He started with an RBI-double, then hit another RBI-double later, but check out this beauty:

455 feet, yo.

We can talk about how Hedges also hit a sweet 3-run homer, or Matt Szczur’s bases-loaded RBI-single. But instead let’s just watch Solarte launch that 455 blast into the booing Cardinal stands a few more times before going to bed.
