Rockies 10, Padres 1: Well, that’s one way to end a winning streak

The Padres were really, really bad today. They only had four hits for the afternoon, and the only one of those that was worth anything was the solo shot by Austin Hedges in the fifth. On the other hand, Nolan Arenado took Jhoulys Chacin deep for three runs in the fifth inning and Jose Torres gave up a grand slam to Ian Desmond in the seventh.

If you’re looking for a silver lining in this abysmal game, you need to be on Team Tank. The team’s five game win streak, while fun, was not ideal for their 2018 draft position. The Phillies have really committed to losing, and the Giants have drawn even with San Diego in the race for the top pick. Don’t look at the actual box score, which shows lousy performances by the entire roster.

The pitching staff gave up ten runs on thirteen hits, and the only pitcher who didn’t look absolutely terrible was Craig Stammen. And, well, we talked about the no-show offense. The good news is that it’s Saturday night and you can go out and have fun and forget this game ever happened.

If you’re feeling masochistic, Jarred Cosart will pitch the rubber match tomorrow at 1:40 PM.
