The Padres’ future is so bright, you have to wear shades. It’s a good thing that today’s giveaway is the best one of the year, a pair of Knockaround shades. After the bomb blasts from last night’s game, it would be prudent to attend today’s event with the proper eye protection.
Jhoulys Chacin’s last two outings weren’t pretty, but if you look close there’s a pattern developing. He gave up nine runs in his first start of the season, then he had three starts of three earned runs or less. Then he gave up seven runs, but after that he had four games of three earned runs or less before giving up seven again in the fifth. By my calculations, he should have five starts of three earned runs or less before another turd arrives. That makes sense, right?

Tyler Chatwood is probably not looking forward to this lineup. In two starts against the Padres this season, he’s 0-2 with nine earned runs in 10-2/3 innings. He’s given up four or more earned runs in seven of his eleven starts, so the Padres stand to have a fighting chance today.
It should be a beautiful day down in the Gaslamp, so slap on some sunscreen, rock those shades, and root for a Padres win!
