Perdomo and the Padres look to even up the series against the Braves.

MLB: Detroit Tigers at San Diego Padres Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

A frustrating loss last night kicked off the Padres' series at home against the Braves. Tonight they'll try to even things up as Luis Perdomo takes the mound opposite Bartolo Colon.

Perdomo is coming off one of his best starts of the season. He threw six scoreless innings, allowing only two hits. He did issue a season-high five walks, however, while collecting six strikeouts en route to just his second win of the season. This will be Perdomo's first time ever facing the Braves.

Colon, on the other hand, has pitched against the Padres eight previous times over his 20-year career in the big leagues. He has an all-time record of 4-3 with a 3.69 ERA and 0.971 WHIP against San Diego.

Colon missed most of June with a left oblique strain, and he returns to the mound tonight for his first appearance since sustaining that injury. But the veteran right-hander has struggled this season, posting a 7.78 ERA while going 2-7 through his first 12 starts.
