Let’s review the scoring plays in tonight’s game between the Padres and the Brewers:
- Wil Myers homers
- Hunter Renfroe homers
- Travis Shaw homers
- Keon Broxton homers
- Yangervis Solarte homers
- Manny Pina homers
- Eric Thames homers
It’s like both teams sent James Shields to the mound, then relieved him with inferior clones of James Shields. There probably would have been more if Ryan Schimpf wasn’t in El Paso right now. The only reason the Friars even stayed in the game until extras was because Myers hit that first bomb with a pair of runners on base.
It’s actually a miracle the Padres did as well as they did, because Andy Green threw half his pitching staff at the Brewers. Miguel Diaz couldn’t even get through four innings, while Milwaukee got six innings out of Junior Guerra, despite his terrible first inning. Sure, they got stung by three errors, but who needs defense when you’ve got bombs? Oh well, San Diego is just one game closer to 2018’s top draft pick.
Dinelson Lamet will try to slow down the tank tomorrow at 1:10 PM.
