Padres alumni will be playing softball against some U.S. Navy personnel in an event closed to the public. Randy Jones has taken the job of reengaging Padres players of the past. Former alumni and fans alike have long wished for the Padres organization to do more to bring them together. This seems like the first official event.
While only the Navy and their families can be spectators, it’s nice to know that it’s taking place even if it is hidden to civilian eyes. I’m sure we’ll see tidbits on a future episode of Padres POV, but it could be nice to live stream the whole six inning game. I probably wouldn’t watch, but I bet some fans would be interested.
Padres Alumni to Play U.S. Navy All-Stars | MLB.com
First pitch is scheduled for 11:40 a.m. with notable Padres Alumni participants to include Randy Jones, Garry Templeton, Steve Finley, Heath Bell, Tony Gwynn Jr., Archi Cianfrocco and many more.
The Padres alumni should take this team on the road and play corporate teams around the city to raise money for charity. I’d scratch together a few bucks to be beaten by these guys.
